Funny. But I thought the “It’s the greatest book ever” was a bit much.

2. moneysworthless - January 6, 2008

Well it is to him. And Muslims. But I see where you’re coming from

3. Sachi - January 6, 2008

I’m just saying it causes controversy. PERSONALLY, I think it’s cool that he’d say it openly, but there’s alreay way too much conflict in the world.

4. Nebroc - January 6, 2008

Srry but i was just thinking are almost all male muslims named mohammad…scratch all but are most?

5. Sachi - January 6, 2008

It’s a common name.

….and MC’ Lovin >,>

Excellent post! :)

Some muslims have ‘Mohammad’ as a part of their name. That is why you hear that one so often.

8. moneysworthless - January 6, 2008

i see what you’re saying, but he’s being honest. and it’s the same for me. i’m not forcing that on anyone though, now that would be messed up.

right, it’s cause Mohammad is the most common first name in the world. a lot of people will be named Mohammad, and then, in addition, have a middlename or something they would be recognized by more easily.

9. trylobyte - January 7, 2008

Mohamed is technically my first name (it’s the first word in my full name). But it’s not actually the name you use to call me. People call me by the second name (or middlename watever you wanna call it). Adding Mohamed in front is just a tradition I guess and its not a must.

Same with ‘Bin’ which loosely means ’son of’ eg. Osama ’son of’ Laden. We use father’s name instead of a family name. It gets more complicated when you add ‘Haji’ when you’ve done your pilgrimage. So my full name goes like ‘Mohamed sumthing bin Haji sumthing’. Hehe

Btw, I think the guy went a bit over when he dissed the Greeks. Sure, Muslims did contribute to maths but gotta give credits to the Greeks too.

seemed interesting but i do not think he shouldl be posting this publicly, idk…

Wow, you got to go for Hajj, awesome :D

I think he meant it more because the Greeks are often identified with Math (Pythagorean Theorem, Descartes, etc.)

And I guess that’s your opinion, but I think it doesn’t serve a private purpose (as most practicing Muslims already know this) but it serves to help remove stereotypical images from people’s minds. Heck, I’m not big with Camels or falaffels either ;D

12. Sachi - January 10, 2008

I like camels.. ; _ ;
